Abstract. Chili is a production crop that is much needed by the community, chili is a fruit vegetable that is very popular with people in Indonesia. This chili sauce, which is synonymous with spicy taste, is popular with many Indonesians. Made from additional chili peppers, this chili sauce is usually served to accompany other foods. To increase the production of chili plants, good care is needed. Production of chili plants will decrease if the types of diseases that attack are not paid attention to. To find out chili plant diseases, farmers only look at the disease without first knowing the symptoms that appear which will affect the production of chili plants. So we need experts who understand the symptoms of disease in chili plants. The existence of experts can be replaced by a system designed to detect disease symptoms in chili plants. The expert system that will be designed is web-based using the certainty factor method. It is hoped that this expert system will help increase the productivity of chili plants.   Keywords: expert system; chili; certainty factor; chili plants
