Abstract

Body image is very important for teenagers. Late teenage girls have great attention to body image such as the appearance of body shape. Teenagers usually compare their body image with other people through social media and the results is low self-esteem. This study aims to determine the influence of chronically online and self-esteem on the body image of students at X University. The research subjects were 200 Diponegoro University nursing students aged 18 to 21. The sampling technique in this research used non-probability sampling. The measuring instruments used are the body image scale, the chronically online scale, and the self-esteem scale. This research uses multiple linear regression analysis techniques. Based on the results of data analysis, the results obtained were b1 = 0.287 and b2 = 0.756 with a significance of <0.001 < 0.05, so it can be interpreted that the influence of chronically online and self-esteem on the body image of nursing students at Diponegoro University is significant, so the hypothesis is accepted. This research provides an overview of the influence of chronically online and self-esteem on the body image of nursing students at X University.
