Abstract

The manufacturing industry in Indonesia has the ability to be more productive and has a broad chaineffect. There will also be an increase in the added value of raw materials, an increase in the numberof workers, as well as high foreign exchange by registering the largest taxes and customs duties. Thisis also based on the ability of several sectors in this industry which have performance percentagefigures above the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) nationally. Manufacturing industry and labor aretwin brothers. This is because the growth of the manufacturing industry sector will definitely bringpositive values for the absorption of labor and the human development index. The purpose of thisstudy is to describe and analyze the effect of the performance of the manufacturing industry onemployment and the human development index. The research method used in this study is regressionwith the Ordinary Least Square approach. The sample of this research is 40 (forty) from 2010-2019using quarterly data. The results showed that the performance of the manufacturing industry had asignificant and positive effect on employment and the human development index.Keywords: manufacturing industry performance, employment, human development index
